Biography: 
Lisa's first "published" works were illustrated stories which her grandmother bound by hand into pasteboard and fabric covered books. A self-publishing pioneer before she reached third grade. After a thirty year hiatus spent in health care and retail, she returned to writing fiction. Her short story, "Curls of Gold," won first place in 2009-2010 from the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation. Additional works are found on Smashwords, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, and other major e-book platforms. Kovanda is a 2011 Alumni of Lew Hunter's Screenwriting Colony. Her colony script, "Til Death Do Us Part," placed in the top 25 Feature Scripts for the 2012 Slamdance Film Festival, and won the Bronze for Oregon Screenplays in the 2012 Oregon Film Festival.  Lisa is a Past-President of the Nebraska Writers Guild, , and a member of the Nebraska Film Association. A Nebraska native, she lives in Lincoln where her canine companion and eleven grandchildren occupy her "spare time."
