His classes for the conference:
Creation, Re-Creation, and De-Creation
For storytellers, the clash between the real and the artificial is intensifying. The pull is to offer more of what’s already been done or use art to deconstruct what is. But true creativity does neither. It is proactive, not reactive. It offers something new— valuing imagination over indoctrination or imitation The goal isn’t to be the next _ (fill in the blank). We already have that voice. Discover, instead, how to create art that blazes with your originality.
Three Stages of Creativity
While each project is unique, the creative journey involves certain specific stages. And almost always, when a writer feels stuck, it’s because they don’t understand the specific stage they’re in or how to navigate it. In this session, you’ll learn how to pursue the unique aspects of each stage with purpose and passion. Doing so will help you take your story to the finish line while filling your art and your heart with more life.
A Tale of Two Stories: The One We Write and the One We Live
It’s easy to feel stuck in your story when dreams haven’t come true, risks haven’t paid off, and all outcomes are uncertain. But what’s not working in our art is often less about our creativity and more a warning signal of what’s not working in our life. In this session, Allen reveals the concept of Story 1 and Story 2. Nothing matters more, because you’ll never tell a better story than the one you’re living.

What is Boot Camp?
You’re a writer! Well, you’ve written a few pages. Maybe an entire book! But now what… One of the best things you can do is share your work with a small group of other writers. For Boot Camp critique groups night, you bring the first chapter of your project (no more than 3000 words) and get feedback from your group. We have heard so many wonderful things from attendees in the past who have loved this free feature of the conference. Anyone interested in participating needs to choose this option when they register. It is completely free, but we need a proper headcount of those planning to attend so we can pre-assign genre groups for the best possible outcome for your evening.
Literary Agents
We have two literary agents taking pitches this year. They are: Zachary Honey with FinePrint Literary Management and Cathie Hedrick-Armstrong with Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.
Zachary Honey with FinePrint Literary Management
Zachary is primarily seeking thrillers and adult fiction, especially those set in rural places, mountainous regions, or other hard-to-reach corners of the world. His other interests include hiking, skiing, music, board games, golf, and other outdoor activities, and he is open to non-fiction pitches in these categories. He is not looking to represent fantasy or sci-fi at this time. He would like to support underrepresented authors, especially those in the American indigenous community.

Cathie Hedrick-Armstrong with Marsal Lyon Literary Agency

Cathie is looking for: Adult Only, Romance, Domestic or Psychological Suspense, Horror, Mystery, Historical Fiction, Commercial Fiction, Women’s/Book Club Fiction. Cathie is not accepting queries for Non-Fiction or Children’s Fiction (YA, MG, PB).
Paid at registration, it is $15 to pitch to an agent. You will have eight minutes scheduled sometime on Thursday from 1:00-3:00 to talk with the agent over a video conference, so be sure to practice your pitch!
Photographer
Is it time to update your headshot? On Saturday, we will have photographer Eva Coppinger on hand. For only $40, paid at registration, you can schedule an appointment with Eva. You will have three edited, digital headshots sent to you with full printing rights released to you.
